Brecknock Sinfonia Trust was formed at an extraordinary general meeting of the Friends in 2018 and was formally registered with the Charity Commission in 2019, registration number 1183813. Prior to the Trust’s formation the orchestra existed as two almost separate entities: the Orchestra and the Friends and the aim of forming the trust was to put the organisation onto a more formal and sustainable basis for the future.
Aims of the Trust
The charity’s objects (“the objects”) are
To advance, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of, the art and science of music, in particular orchestral music, by any means the Trustees see fit, including through:
(a) the presentation of public concerts
(b) providing opportunities for musicians, particularly young musicians, to participate in performances of orchestral music
(c) fostering links with neighbouring music organisations, schools and youth groups to enhance music and its performance
