Brecknock Sinfonia Trust Data Privacy Policy
Brecknock Sinfonia (the Sinfonia) is an orchestra for Brecon and the surrounding area. It is governed by a charity (the Brecknock Sinfonia Trust (the Trust)) and managed by the Trustees and by two sub-committees, the Orchestra Committee and the Friends’ Committee. All Friends of the Brecknock Sinfonia are also members of the Trust – the term “Friends” is simply a more informal way of referring to those who pay subscriptions to support the orchestra, and the Trust has retained that long used term.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on 25 May 2018. The GDPR concerns the way in which organisations like Brecknock Sinfonia collect, handle and protect the personal data of the Sinfonia’s Friends and others. It also explains your rights in relation to that data. For organisational reasons, the Trust continues to deal with orchestral players and Members/Friends separately as regards the GDPR.
The Friends’ Committee needs your written consent to continue to hold and use the personal data you provide to us. Many Friends gave their consent by way of exchange of email or letter when the GDPR came into effect in 2018. New Friends of Brecknock Sinfonia can give their consent by completing the appropriate declaration on the Membership Form. Your consent remains valid until you tell us otherwise.
All the data which we hold has come from you or, in some circumstances, from publicly available sources. The data we hold about each individual includes some or all of the following (Name, address, home telephone number, and/or mobile number, and email address). The Trust accepts subscriptions by Standing Order. If you establish a standing order, you will provide your banking details to the Membership Secretary. However, such details will not be retained by the Trust but will be passed on directly to the nominated bank.
We maintain personal data to enable the collection of Friends’ subscriptions, the sending of the Sinfonia Newsletter, concert details and other communications related to our musical programme and events. Occasionally photographs used on the Brecknock Sinfonia website may include members of the audience or Friends helping out serving refreshments or otherwise. Individuals are not named, but if you do not wish to appear in any such photos, or do not wish family members to appear, please do let us know. Individuals’ personal details are not shared with any other organisation or third party.
